Digital technologies are playing an increasingly important role in everyday financial and insurance matters for people in Germany. Banking is done via apps, insurance policies are taken out online, contactless payments are now almost universally used, and artificial intelligence is playing a role in financial decision-making. As a result, consumers’ expectations of digital services are also rising.
This study report examines how consumers use and evaluate digital financial and insurance services. The results are based on two representative CATI surveys, each involving 1,004 people aged 16 and over in Germany, conducted by Bitkom Research on behalf of Bitkom in 2026.
