Get Started the Right Way

Our committees and working groups are where most of our activities take place. They serve as platforms for exchange and are open to all permanent employees of Bitkom member companies.

Almost every day, our network of more than 2,200 member companies comes together in these groups to share experiences, best practices, and relevant information, and to help improve the regulatory framework for the digital economy.

Committee meetings and related activities focus on the most pressing issues affecting the digital economy, such as Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, and Cloud Computing. To receive important updates and gain early access to relevant information, you need to be added to the relevant mailing lists for invitations and information. You can do this by joining the topic platforms that are relevant to you, with no commitment required.

As a member of a working group, you can contribute your expertise and knowledge, help shape specific topics and activities, and connect with other Bitkom members.

Each committee is supported by a member of staff at the Bitkom office, both from an organisational and content perspective. They are available to answer questions and welcome feedback and suggestions regarding the committee's work.

• Please note: You can only log in to the portal after clicking the registration link and setting up a password. If you forget your password, you can request a new one here at any time.
• Your colleagues can also request access to the portal.
• The Member Portal is also available as a mobile app for smartphones and tablets from both the App Store and Google Play. 

• An overview of Bitkom’s committees is always available on our website. You can choose which committees to join—with no obligation—directly in the portal. Whether you want to take on an active role is entirely up to you. We’d love for you to get involved.
• Through our committees, we organize Bitkom’s technical and policy work. Our committees serve as open platforms for members to exchange ideas and are an ideal place to network and engage with experts in regulation and digitalization, customers, partners, and other industry stakeholders.
• Through these committees, Bitkom regularly mobilizes its network of over 2,200 member companies to address current legislative initiatives, market-relevant regulatory proposals, or other business-related topics.

• The companies involved in each committee decide how often meetings take place.
• Before the COVID-19 pandemic, each working group generally held one in-person meeting per quarter, with additional meetings scheduled when current issues or specific needs arose. Most meetings currently take place in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance with the option to join remotely.
• However, an increasing number of working groups are gradually returning to fully in-person meetings.

• Each topic is managed by a designated contact at the Bitkom office. Getting in touch with these staff members is an important step in bringing your expertise and priorities into our work.
• Get actively involved, speak with Bitkom’s full-time staff, and tell them about your current projects and areas of work.
• Before a committee meeting or webinar, we usually issue a call for contributions. These calls for speakers are sent to the contacts registered for the relevant committee. When you receive one, you are welcome to submit a proposal. 

• As a Bitkom member, you automatically have access to our corporate discounts through the Member Portal under the “Info Center” tab. These include discounts on car rentals, hotel stays, job advertisements, and office supplies.
• Through our partner Corporate Benefits, all of your employees can access an extensive discount platform for private purchases free of charge. The offers cover a wide range of online shops in areas such as fashion, travel, leisure, and electronics. To use Corporate Benefits, your company must first register for the service by sending an email to sonderkonditionen@bitkom-service.de.
• You also receive discounts on our consulting services in areas such as data protection and model terms and conditions, as well as on professional development seminars for specialists and executives in the digital economy.
