On November 15th, 2023 the third annual Digital Euro Summit took place, where we explored the latest developments surrounding the digital euro and the future of currency. Our virtual event brought high-level stakeholders from the banking and stablecoin sector, political institutions, startups, and academia together to discuss the state and future of a digital euro.
In 2023 the summit focused on the European Commission’s proposal for a digital euro and the subsequent ECB’s decision on the launch of a digital euro.
We took an in-depth look at the discussion on the future direction of the digital euro, as well as the implications of various technical design choices that have been proposed. We also examined the relationship between central bank digital currency development outside of the European Union and assess the impact of stablecoins on the banking system.
