Cross-Border GDPR Enforcement: Assessing the Trilogue Agreement
Bitkom welcomes the provisional trilogue agreement between the Council and the European Parliament, which aims to strengthen the cross-border enforcement of the GDPR through improved cooperation between data protection authorities (DPAs). We view this as an important step forward and an opportunity to advance the discussion on a more consistent interpretation of the GDPR within the EU.
The goal of the new regulation is to accelerate the handling of cross-border GDPR complaints from individuals and organisations. In our position paper, we explicitly support this development but also highlight open questions and issues that, in our view, require further discussion.
