How secure is the semiconductor supply in Germany? (2025)
Semiconductors are a key enabling technology for the digital economy and industrial production. Nearly all companies depend directly or indirectly on their availability. At the same time, geopolitical tensions, fragile supply chains, and rapidly rising demand—particularly driven by AI applications—have significantly increased the importance of a resilient semiconductor supply. This study report examines the role of semiconductors for companies in Germany, analyses current procurement risks, and outlines the strategic measures companies are taking, as well as the policy framework they expect. The findings are based on a representative survey of 503 companies in Germany in 2025, including 457 that use semiconductors.
