How far has quantum computing made its way into the German economy?
Quantum computing is predominantly viewed by German companies as a strategic opportunity, but operational adoption remains limited and sporadic. A clear gap persists between general openness and concrete implementation: while many companies recognize its long-term competitive potential, they hesitate due to technological uncertainties, lack of resources, and unclear use cases. Although some have begun taking initial steps, the majority are still in a wait-and-see mode. This study report examines how widespread knowledge, interest, and activities related to quantum computing are, and identifies the conditions needed to accelerate the transition toward broad adoption. It is based on a representative telephone survey of companies in Germany with at least 100 employees, conducted by Bitkom Research.
