EDPB’s Template for Personal Data Breach Notifications
Bitkom welcomes the EDPB’s initiative to harmonise personal data breach notifications across Europe. However, the current draft template goes significantly beyond the information required under Article 33(3) GDPR and risks creating substantial additional administrative burdens for controllers. Bitkom therefore calls for a proportionate and practicable approach that strengthens the efficiency and quality of breach notifications while avoiding unnecessary compliance requirements, particularly for SMEs.
