As part of its simplification agenda, the European Commission is launching a Digital Omnibus Package. The goal is to reduce bureaucratic reporting obligations for businesses and harmonize the digital regulatory framework. Bitkom welcomes this initiative for a Digital Omnibus and has actively contributed to the European Commission's Call for Evidence with a comprehensive position paper.
The paper identifies areas where further simplification and harmonization is needed, focusing on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data acquis, data protection, and digital identity. It provides a detailed analysis, highlighting specific gaps in harmonization and legal uncertainties between individual articles of the various digital regulatory acts from Bitkom's perspective.
