Vendor-Neutral Tendering of x86 Servers

This guideline provides an overview of the basic principles and criteria for the procurement of servers by public administrations. It is the result of the Server Working Group of the Bitkom e.V. Product-Neutral Tenders Expert Committee.

The aim of the document is to provide public sector customers at the federal, state and local levels with reliable and comprehensible assistance so that they can formulate their request for proposals for the procurement of servers in a product-neutral and non-discriminatory manner, i.e., without using protected brand names and without naming a specific manufacturer, but taking into account current technical standards.
