The digitalisation of business processes requires trusted, cross-border identity solutions for companies. The European Business Wallet (EUBW) is intended to provide private and public organisations with a secure, interoperable and automated digital identity solution. Bitkom is accompanying the development of the European Business Wallet.
In its first position paper from June 2025, Bitkom emphasises that the EUBW must not become a standalone solution, but should build on existing initiatives such as the eIDAS 2.0 Regulation and the EUDI Wallet. Early involvement of private-sector stakeholders and seamless integration into existing IT systems are crucial for success. Only in this way can a practical, interoperable solution emerge that supports economically relevant use cases such as KYC/KYB procedures and digital product passports.
In its three-point paper from December 2025, Bitkom provides feedback on the draft TR-03189 of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) on the EUDI Wallet. The analysis focuses on clear definitions, technology-neutral requirements and practical specifications for identification, activation and security architecture. The aim is to enable a user-friendly, innovation-friendly and secure implementation of the EUDI Wallet. The paper includes concrete proposals for amendments to ensure consistent and implementable regulation.
