The ICT market is affected by heavy global competition. At the same time, political responsibility is being transferred from the national to the European level. BITKOM supports the German ICT industry as it enters new foreign markets and voices its interests at both EU and global levels. Customs and foreign trade issues are addressed by the Working Group on Customs and Foreign Trade as well as the Working Group on Export Control.

To establish international cooperations and partnerships, BITKOM is engaged in various manners:

• The reception of foreign business delegations
• Dialogue with ministers and ICT figures in the target countries
• Delegation trips abroad
• Forums at domestic trade shows, specifically CeBIT
• Domestic and international cooperative events
• Cooperation with partner organizations
