Der Bundesverband der Informationswirtschaft, Telekommunikation und neue Medien – BITKOM – veranstaltete gemeinsam mit seinem englischen Partnerverband Intellect ein zweitägiges, internationales Gipfelforum zum Thema „HD-TV across Europe“. Ziel der Veranstaltung war es, ein gesamteuropäisches Bild der High-Definition Märkte zu zeichnen.
Die High-Definition-Märkte wurden aus verschiedenen Perspektiven beleuchtet und bewertet: aus der Sicht Industrie, der Broadcaster, der Provider sowie der Kunden. Marketingaspekte und die Kommunikation zum Endanwender bildeten einen weiteren Schwerpunkt.
BITKOM und Intellect nutzten für das Gipfelforum ihr umfangreiches Experten-Netzwerk sowie das des europäischen Dachverbandes EICTA.

The German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media – BITKOM – and its UK based sister trade association Intellect devoted a 2-day international summit forum to the topic of “HD-TV across Europe“.
The following key aspects have been considered:
- Market volumes and turnover potential
- Roll-out plans of different European countries
- Technological aspects and DRM
- HD-content delivery platforms
- Traditional forms: terrestrial, cable, satellite
- New forms: IP-TV, HD-Downloads, Video-on-Demand
- HD-TV and its integration into Smart-Homes and Intelligent Business Environments
- visions of future entertainment for the next 10 years
The High-Definition TV markets have been explored and assessed from different points of view: from the industry as well as broadcasters, manufacturers, customers and retail. Another focus has been on marketing aspects and the communication to the end user.
BITKOM and Intellect prepared the congress using their extensive network of contacts including those available from both organisations’ membership of EICTA, the European Information and Communications Technology Industry Association and together with 30 Top-speakers from different countries.
